This sensory room will be for the whole school and will be an environment designed to give a sensory experience for students struggling with various abilities. By providing sensory stimulation for kids to explore and engage, our young learners will learn how to interact with the world around them. The lighting materials will be the heart of the room to provide calming or stimulating effects. When students get the sensory stimulation they need, they can better absorb and retain information.They will also be able to improve their balance, fine and gross motor skills and even day to day life skills. The stepping buckets and sensory balls will allow students to safely climb and throw. Some students need to feel and manipulate different textures and consistencies so the sensory shapes, mats and toys will gives students input appropriately. The sensory room will even help with students who have behavioral problems in the classroom. Multi-sensory environments can provide the comfort and calm for an overactive or distressed student and help inactive students engage. Focus improves and students overall ability to perform at school strengthens.
