School can already be difficult but imagine coming to a new country and not understanding anything that is going on. Our school has over 41% of English Learners. I co-teach in two 2nd grade classrooms and pull students into small groups to help them understand the content. Having the tables would be so helpful in being able to provide the information they need in a way that is accessible. The students will be able to come meet with me at the tables for a small group and then return to their seats with the knowledge they need to complete the assignment. I personally understand their struggles as I came to the United States when I was in Kindergarten, and I remember how hard it was. I want to make the transition as easy as it can be for my students.
