Having access to healthy snacks like Gold Fish, pretzels, fruit snacks, and other snacks is essential for students to learn and feel secure in the classroom. My students come into the classroom at 8:00 am and eat breakfast. We eat lunch at 10:00 am. By the time lunch is served they are not hungry because they have just eaten breakfast. My kids attend full day PreK, so by 3:45 they are extremely hungry. This is a long time for little ones to go without anything to eat. So we have snack time but it’s at the end of the day. Some students are able to bring their own snacks from home, but many are not so fortunate. Many families can’t afford to send snacks for their child which leaves them without. For some they might not eat again until the following day. These snacks will help to improve thinking and memory. It all comes down to regularly eating food that supply nutrients which supports specific brain and body functions. These snacks including Cheez-Its, granola bars, gold fish, crackers, and Gram crackers will help stimulate the mind of our future leaders and build the self esteem they need.
