This equipment will be used to update our School News Broadcast program. Over the last several years, the students have been unable to create quality videos due to the lack of working equipment. They are currently using iPads and their own cell phones without any external audio equipment to record the school news program. The resulting low-quality videos have caused a lack of interest in the news broadcast program among the students and staff at our school. I recently took over the program and I am trying to regenerate the energy & excitement surrounding the broadcast news. I have a really amazing group of students who are also dedicated to creating a professional news program. They have been coming in during their free time to help clean out the green screen room (which was previously being used as a storage closet). We have been using donated and borrowed equipment in order to learn video and editing techniques. We have applied to become a PBS Student Recording Lab and have been utilizing their curriculum. My Career Technical Investigation classes will also benefit from this equipment during our unit on Video Recording and Editing. I would really appreciate the opportunity to give my students an authentic broadcast news experience. Thank you for the consideration.
