All students want to learn! Preschool is a great way to get a good start on education. There are many students with sensory needs coming into the preschool classrooms and these students do not know how to cope with many social situations. When this happens, they are overstimulated which look like "behaviors" and they act out. A sensory room with specific lighting, motion activities to target vestibular movements, calm down areas, and tactile items will allow children sensory input that will help calm them when the regular room is too overwhelming. These materials will make a difference in the classrooms by allowing students to use their senses in ways that is different from the classroom. This will allow Special Needs students a place to go for sensory input.
