My students need age-appropriate, engaging literature on social skills that will allow me to take a proactive stance on exposing students to positive behavior choices. Social skills are an important precursor to healthy relationships in all settings. My students are already avid readers so I want to capitalize on that strength with these picture books. They are engaging with characters who my students can connect to and learn from. Students also need opportunities to self-regulate in a calm environment when social skills break down. Help me enhance my classroom cool down spot with sensory objects that will help students de-stress, reflect, regulate, and return to learning.
