I have chosen most materials to be used in independent centers during work and play time. We have very specific math and literacy goals at my school. We spend a lot of time planning lessons and activities for our students in whole group settings and it would be great to have some new hands on materials for the students to manipulate that will help reinforce what we are teaching. We have very little money available for our classrooms and we often spend our own money to supplement our teaching. I love to see my lower level students working with my higher level students to complete activities. It is a win win for both children. I have chosen some ten frame boards that we will be able to use in a large group and each child will be able to have their own board. The children can work at their own pace and move on to other activities while I work with remaining students.
