I am a new mod/severe special education teacher. My classroom is unique in that every student learns differently. My students all have different sensory input needs with social, emotional, and cognitive deficits that impact their daily life as well as learning ability. Sensory input materials would allow my students to gain emotional, social, and academic skills while also aiding in keeping my little learners on task. "The most important thing people did for me was to expose me to new things" -Temple Grandin Sensory input helps to awaken the senses. The items I'm requesting will do just that. They will introduce my students to new movements, feelings, and tactile experiences. You'll see on my list I have listed a trampoline, Sensory Sox, exercise ball and Sit and Spin which are all GREAT forms of proprioceptive input. The Sensory Circles and Spiky Gloves will both provide students to access tactile sensory strategies. The light projector and curtain lights will provide calming visual input. The items on my list will be used daily to provide my students with the sensory input that they both need and deserve.
