One of the most successful trends occurring in education now is flexible seating. No longer do students have to spend their days sitting at tables or desks. They now have the opportunity to move all around their classroom to learn in comfortable and beneficial ways. Flexible seating allows students the opportunity to be hands on involved in the success of their own learning. Students will have the chance to try a variety of floor seating from exercise balls, rocker chairs, bounce cushions, floor desks and more. The most important part of flexible seating is that the students have the choice. They get to try numerous options and decide what they like or what is the best selection for them. This also means that they get to spread themselves all over the classroom. Creating a sense of personal space and belonging, as well as less distractions from those around them. No longer are students forced to be still and stationary while they are learning. Instead they can rock, bounce, lay, stand, sit, sway in multiple ways. It helps to make the learning environment feel more comfortable and inviting to those who may think school is intimidating.
