My students are taught basic life skills that can be used in a potential job one day. They currently work in the lunchroom at least once a week sorting chips and wiping tables. They also have weekly classroom jobs. My students participate in visual cooking lessons each week. They help with measurements, reading the directions, and the actual baking of the items. They need the necessary tools to cook. This year we have cooked macaroni and cheese, French toast, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, scrambled eggs, hotdogs and completed a muffin mix lesson. My students look forward to doing this each week. Several of my students would benefit from having flexible seating areas throughout the room to work on tasks and experiments. Lighting and different comfortable areas are needed for students with the need of a safe calm-down area. Having the accessibility to accommodations and items that can help them learn a modified curriculum is beneficial. This is where you can help! Anything that you can help assist with would be greatly appreciated! I know myself and my students will appreciate it!
