When students enter the 6th grade, recess and other opportunities to let out energy are virtually gone. They are asked to sit in a desk for 6-7 hours a day and bottle up their energy. For most 6th graders, that is not an easy task. Often times, they are fidgety and restless as they try to maintain focus. By providing flexible seating options in my classroom, students will be able to release that built up energy in a positive manner and won't disrupt the learning that is occurring. During class, students will be able to choose between standing, sitting on a wobble chair, sitting on the floor with lap desks, or simply sitting on a wobble cushion on their chairs. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating and believe that my students will be more successful when they are able to choose their seating that best suits their learning style. Help me make the transition to flexible seating and donate to my classroom!
