These items will be used to set up learning centers in our Learning Lab to provide the opportunity for more individualized instruction and one on one support.
Each student will have a chance daily to engage in activities that focus on their specific goals independently through specific apps on the tablets and pre-taught games. This allows me to work in smaller groups and or one on one with students as needed.
Since my students are K-2 computers are often difficult and distracting to use. Tablets with touch screens will the minimization of what is on the screen and making it more user friendly. Students will work for 15 minutes on the tablets on reinforcement activities such as letter and number recognition, counting, simple addition, and sight words. Students can also use the tablets to read along with stories read online and or make their own recordings of known sight word books.
The games will be used as a teaching tool and then as a reinforcement center activity. Since the skills I work on with students are their challenges, it's important to provide multiple highly engaging opportunities to practice the same skill.
