Every semester geometry students design and build bridges. We have been using craft sticks and glue guns, which means we use them once, and then throw them away. It also results in a bit of a mess, which can take time away from their work. Geometry can be best understood by manipulating sides, angles, and the rules that result from them. By using tangible projects, the learning comes through the work, and results in a much deeper understanding. By using the erector sets, we can recycle the materials, more accurately manipulate the angles and sides, and continue to use the same sets for many years to come! Please help my students to unleash their creativity, gain a better understanding of the math, and also practice the skills necessary to become engineers.
