The Lotus Seed, one of the books on my list, helps to model how to ask questions as you read. As a teacher I want them to ask questions so that they will understand the text. My wish for my students, is to make every moment worth while when they are reading. The books that have been chosen have very specific skills. The skills help with comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary (CAFE). Each skill would be modeled with each of the books that I have requested. Every student will have an individual skill that they will be working on. Once they have learned a skill, another would be chosen. The skills that will be taught will be experinced by modeling through these books. I am hoping as students learn these skills, they will find a lifelong love of reading.
