Students in my classroom love to read and explore new authors and genres! Book series like Zoey and Sassafras, Dog Man, and Amelia Bedelia are beloved by many of my second graders. When they find more books of the series on the shelves, they are ecstatic to begin learning during independent reading time! The other books are great for students to explore during read-to-self as well, but also make great Interactive Read Alouds during our author studies! Students always make great connections to stories they find engaging! Student engagement and focus is everything in a fun and successful learning environment! By supplying headphones, it helps bridge the gap for students who cannot afford to bring their own. They open the door to exploring learning by listening to reading, interactive videos, and skill-boosting activities on their iPads. Lastly, the privacy desks support students during independent work time. They allow students to minimize distractions around them and focus in to give their best work. My students want to apply themselves and work hard. I believe these tools will better help them thrive as they develop themselves as learners.
