I teach a PSC program in LAUSD. PSC stands for Preschool Comprehensive. This program services students with moderate to severe special needs that are most impacted, meaning needing the most help to progress at an early age. I mainly serve families and students with Autism. My students learn through a varieties of textures, colors, spaces, and sensations. Serving students with Autism requires doing activities and lessons repeatedly to allow my students the time and attention they need to be academically successful. I love my job. I love my students, but this class needs a lot of materials to create rich learning environments both inside and outside my classroom. My students deserve a functional, fun outdoor learning environment that will help them reach grade level standards with individualized support while working towards their goals. The six learning environments I will create with these materials align our Creative Curriculum and will give my students a better chance at learning the skills they need to move closer to a general education learning environment. Library- I want to promote reading for my students. It is a challenge to entice my students to sit an listen to a story, but with the help of the sensory swing chair my students will want to sit and be rocked while listening to a story. Sand and Water table- With the sand and water table I will be able to create a sensory center for students to explore science and math concepts. Two Table Top Activity Table- Any outdoor lessons can be taught here. Gross Motor movement- The Bubble lawn blower and teeter-totter will help students learn self regulation skills while moving their bodies Dramatic Play- Students learn through hands on play! This will foster interactions with peers, building those crucial social skills my littles need.
