Books in hands, books in homes! Students will learn English through reading relevant literature about students from similar backgrounds connected to migration and coming of age. Research shows that students learn vocabulary ten times faster by reading than simple instruction. By donating to this project, you will be helping students develop English language skills while also learning to love reading. Through the selected titles, they will also be learning about history and geography. Many of our students have inconsistent or interrupted formal education. By using high-interest, relatable texts, students will gain reading, vocabulary, and problem-solving skills that will help them in their content classes.
