Remember that clay or ceramic thing you made for your mom and she still has it to this day? That’s what this project will do for my students, their parents and friends. They can create and sign a beautiful, tangible, (often useful - vases, plates, mugs) piece of art that will last a lifetime. Having taught for 35 yrs in the same small town, I often have parents ( that were former students) say to me ,” I still have that ceramic piece I made in your class.” Or ,” My grandma still has the vase I made for her when I was in your class.” This project will give students the experience of creating something from scratch (liquid clay) and yet it can least for generations to come .
