In my math class my students struggle with basic facts such as multiplication and division. So they are at times unsuccessful in math. They are always asking to use calculators in my class and I have calculators that are very old and at times don't work so I have to let them use their cellular devices which goes against our no cellular devices rule at school. If my class had a set of calculators they would feel more confident in their answers they were turning into me. I would use these calculators to help them with some of their learning accommodations set by their Individual Education Plan. Each student has an accommodation that they are allowed to use calculators in all class settings. These calculators would help each student be more successful in my class. So not only will they be more successful and feel more confident but I would be very compliant with their learning needs. Calculators are a huge confident buster to students who struggle in math. They just want to feel that their answers are right and with a calculator it helps to back them up. My students just need a little help and these calculators just might be the things that do that for them.
