People are a sum of their experiences. Opportunities for new experiences such as seeing ocean animals are limited to many of our students because of their economic situation. When we go on these field trips it is often the first time a student has been out of their own hometown or even order food in a restaurant for themselves. Everything they see and do is new to them and helps them realize they can be part of a bigger world. This trip helps students discover that their life can be more than just what it is here in this little town.
