These calculators will help my students continue to think mathematically at home. Algebra is complex and worrying about doing long division distracts from concentrating on the problem as a whole. If students have calculators they can check out and take home with them they can continue to solve complex problems or simple problems with multiple steps. This will in turn give them more time to complete assignments. Using a calculator at home will give them more practice also. This will help them when they are taking national tests such as the ACT and SAT also. It will make them competitive with students who don't worry about having access to a calculator at home. It is rewarding to see students from different backgrounds work toward a common goal. Having a calculator will enable them to quickly look at their work and continue mathematical discussion of the reasonableness of their answers without having to doubt their simple calculations.
