According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 25% of 13 to 18-year-old students face an anxiety disorder, many of them struggle with an unprecedented amount of stress and other negative emotions. Studies show that mindfulness is one of the most effective tools to assist students to improve attention and focus, self-control, classroom participation, compassion, ability to resolve conflict, decrease levels of stress, depression, anxiety, disruptive behavior and overall well being! Many of our students struggle with anxiety, depression or other trauma-related disorder. I hope to use these mats to teach mindfulness to our students who struggle with any mental health condition that might impair their school performance.
