For many students, history can be a very dull and sometimes difficult class to be engaged in. The free version of Nearpod that I have been using has allowed my presentations/slideshows to be shown on student laptops where I have the ability to add interactive questions, quizzes, polls, videos, and more, but also allows me to be in control of what the students are seeing on their screens. Students are so excited when they get to use Nearpod. Plus, when teaching and using Nearpod I can instantly assess my students, see where they are excelling or struggling, and finally have a tool that forces every kid to complete the on-line tasks or questions presented to them. I can know instantly from my screen who has responded, who is struggling, and who "gets" the material. My students are thrilled with Nearpod and beg to use it. The problem is the "free" version is so basic and doesn't allow my students to benefit from all of its features.
