I love teaching words to small groups of students. It is true differentiation. I assess and teach new word study patterns to build on what they know. When I am working with small groups, I want the other students' time to be valuable. I want them practicing skills at their levels, not waste their time with things they already understand, or asking them to do something that is too difficult for them to work on without teacher support. Having an iPad to use a few times a week will allow students to access books at their own reading levels. It will also allow them use programs to practice Language skills. Programs they will be able to access on the iPad will allow them to practice a variety of skills I assign them at their own pace and ability level.
