My students love running and want to start a track team. Our New Orleans charter school has football, volleyball, and boy's and girl's basketball. However with a lack of funding and facilities, adding an additional sport is a challenge. The amazing thing about track is it teaches kids the values of a team sport and the importance of perseverance at a very low cost! Every student deserves to shine. Track allows individuals to find their inner strength, while teaching students to support and push each other as a family. Running pushes people to their limits and shows them what is possible. My students attend our school because they are looking to grow. A track team would give all students one more avenue to discover themselves.
