As a Title I school, school funds must go to the classroom and our SPED programs. While our school firmly believes the arts is a vital piece to a student's experience, we don't have the budget to build our theater arts costume closet for our new 8-12 program. Our first production this fall is "A Christmas Carol," and it will be performed by our 8th graders. Victorian era clothing is a great base to build a costume closet as it is versatile and can be used in many different productions. The most challenging part is costuming our female characters as that clothing is so iconic. We want to build a thriving theater arts program, and costuming is a key piece to that puzzle. Giving my students costumes they can be proud of will help them bring their characters to life!
