A class set of "The Outsiders" will allow my students to read together and explore a relevant classic. They will be able to do an in depth study to explore characters, themes, language, and plot elements. They will also be able to do a class analysis between the two social groups in the book. They will be able to compare and contrast with the social groups they see in school. Not only will we cover several literary standards, but also, socio-emotional standards as well. They will also each do a presentation at the ends of the novel study to work on their communication skills.
