Our students work during therapy time on becoming more independent in different aspects of their school activities, they need to learn to sit and self-regulate during class instruction . They need to learn to play in the playground and during physical education class, and most importantly they need to feel included and be part of our school community. Our current therapy room provides limited space and equipment to expose our students to a variety of therapeutic strategies, our swing is unstable and our larger students who need it cannot take advantage of this therapeutic strategy.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase exposure to a variety of therapeutic strategies to impact student's sensory, gross/fine motor skills, attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their inclusion and participation in the school environment.
The products that I have selected will help my students by exposing them to additional therapeutic strategies. The Dura Swing (PART II project) provides linear and rotational vestibular stimulation, it will enhance safety conditions of our current therapy room and will allow larger students to ride on. These will also be extremely beneficial for some students that just need a sensory break.
