These books will help my students succeed through distance learning and the current happenings around us. Books about growth mindset, kindness and patience aides students during these unprecedented times. Books about diversity aide students in learning about different cultures and ethnicities. These book titles will help students grow in and out of the classroom. Highlighting diversity stands hand in hand with kindness.
With these unknown times, students find comfort in books, especially picture books where they can rely on pictures to find a message. Even with upper elementary grades, students can use picture books to start great open-minded discussions with their peers. If we are physically in the classroom, I will use these books as read alouds and if we are doing virtual learning, I will do online read alouds. Either way, students will be engaging with these stories to open their minds and hearts to embrace the diversity around us while fostering their social and emotional health!
