My class is all about experiential learning in the outdoors. The canoeing and kayaking unit that I do is to teach life long lessons that kids can use once they are out on their own and for the rest of their life. Giving students the confidence on the water with the use of kayaks is an experience that not all have the opportunity to take part. Many people have a fear of water and engaging them in a controlled environment may show them that they can be safe, improve health, and build confidence.
