As a teacher of 120 ninth and tenth high school students, I have found that finding ways to make the learning environment warm and inviting lends itself to connection and engagement, which leads to a higher rate of student achievement. By enhancing my classroom environment, students will feel a sense of safety and well-being that will allow them to connect with their classroom, with me, and with one another in a more meaningful way. This, in turn, will increase the probability of them caring about what we are doing in the classroom. Having an essential oil diffuser, stress relief items, markers to work on individual white boards, and the freedom to travel outside or to various areas in the building with our camp chairs and lap desks will create a "classroom" that I think that I will be more versatile, fun, and engaging for these high-need students and will certainly benefit my regular students as well. Thank you for considering my requests.
