If you've been around a large group of kids before, then you know how noisy it can get! By allowing each student a set of headphones, they will be able to focus more on their digital tasks. We are a 1:1 digital classroom, which means each students has access to their own laptop for the year. Because society is constantly changing and becoming more "tech-savvy", I have implemented as much technology as I can in my teaching. Students use their computers for all kinds of things throughout the day - completing morning work, publishing writing pieces, researching science and social studies topics, and more. However, their Chromebooks stay on mute the majority of the day, as to not be a distraction for other students, and myself when conducting small group instruction. The opportunities to enjoy learning even more can increase if headphones are matched with their laptops. Students can listen to audiobooks during reading time, hear their narrative stories and informational writing pieces read back to them, and enjoy the numerous math tutorial videos without disturbing the learning of others around them. Students would have the opportunity to listen to soothing music while completing their classwork if they wanted. Join me in continuing my dream and journey that I've created in a classroom set to meet the needs of the 21st century leaders!
