Social emotional learning is essential for students, as they navigate peer relationships, tackle their daily academic workload, and assume more responsibility each year. These books, games, and sensory items will help students at Highland learn about mindfulness, empathy, kindness, self-control, emotion-management, and more. Student will use these resources in the classroom, 1-on-1, and small group setting to assist with their learning. These sensory items will give students an opportunity to regulate within the classroom and stay focused throughout the day. Board games and books will be used in one-on-one lessons, and small group workshops with students who need extra support within the school environment. Being the first School Social Worker at Highland, I am here to support students and address their social/emotional needs to the best of my ability. All of these materials will help me with that task and will be invaluable to the growth and development of my students.
