Creative writing isn't offered in many districts and because it is such a niche topic, there aren't really any textbooks to help guide students through the content. Most of our resources come from online sources and those resources are often not going to be as high quality as I would like them to be. They are writing their own stories initially, but as we delve into genre writing, learners will need access to texts that will help them as they work to develop their own writing voices. This list of books will provide my learners with valuable resources as they develop their writing skills. Writers like Anne Lamott and Stephen King telling about their writing experiences will give my learners the tools that they need to share their experiences. Resource texts about writing fantasy, mystery, and science fiction will help my learners as they attempt to join the ranks of writers like Brandon Sanderson and Robert Galbraith.
