The students that I work with usually come to me hating reading. I am always trying to find different ways to tap into their interests to help them see that reading is fun. All of my students shine during science class. By having a consistent material that involves both reading and science will help me continue to grow my students love for reading. I will be able to use these magazines to help teach the different important concepts with reading, while being able to pull in something that they love. Within my classroom, I will teach the specific comprehension concepts, and then we will use the magazines to practice the concepts. The assessment that is provided is a great practice for the students, as it is very similar to the assessments that they will see in class. By utilizing the assessments given, the students will gain confidence towards their general education assessments.
