When I am meeting with students who are having a difficult day, they tend to be open to conversation in a less traditional setting where they can choose seating and get physically comfortable. The bean bag chairs will allow students to choose from a variety of seating in my office when we are talking about difficult topics. When students are anxious, worried or scared the seek both emotional and physical comfort. Having a variety of seating options allows student choice. More importantly, it allows students to feel comfortable in an often uncomfortable, but necessary, conversation. I am looking forward to the flexibility that beanbag seating will give my students.
