In the TLC classroom, the teacher and staff members focus on reinforcing appropriate classroom behaviors, by providing positive reinforcement to the students throughout the school day utilizing individualized point systems as described above. We as a team want to increase the student's motivation to continue to make good choices throughout the school day, this can be done by allowing the students to earn highly motivating items at the end of each week by trading in their daily earned points. This will in return help to motivate the students to have appropriate classroom behaviors, while simultaneously decreasing the challenging behaviors. While positive behaviors increase the challenging behaviors will decrease which will then allow for the students to have better access to the general education curriculum and continue to make progress learning. The students are more active learners when they are receiving positive reinforcement and are less likely to engage in challenging behaviors when they are motivated to have access to preferred rewards. The list has small toys that will be utilized as rewards to help support the TLC school store and increase the motivation of the students to have appropriate classroom behaviors.
