We would like our students to be able to read Front Desk as part of the Global Read Aloud. We will connect to other classrooms from different countries, reading the same book and sharing our projects and ideas. Most of the students in our classroom have not been out of the county where we live. Giving them a glimpse into another school with students their same age from a different country or region is a priceless experience. Being able to make this connection through a book is magical. Front Desk is a story that many of our students will be able to relate to in many different ways. Front Desk touches on immigration, family secrets and being different from everyone else. This is an award winning novel that comes with a fantastic opportunity to engage students in literature, culture and community.
