A high number of students have a variety of mental health needs such as trauma, anxiety, depression, transitions, and gender identity. These circumstances increase their risk factors and ability to cope with school life, creating a high anxiety response that can affect their ability to remain in the classroom. Some students need an alternative space to regroup and release their emotions. By allowing students time in a healing environment to process their own emotions they are better able to return to class and resume learning. This healing environment allows students to build coping strategies that lead to resiliency and success.

About my class
