Scope literary magazines grab students' interest and help them to become globally aware with their monthly magazines, which develop the social/emotional aspect of being compassionate leaders. Scope magazines are geared for a sixth-eighth grade reading level (perfect for my fifth/sixth gifted students.) They challenge students to read, analyze, and write about complex texts across many genres including fiction, non-fiction, drama, poetry, historical texts, first-hand accounts, and online videos. Lessons align with google classroom and each magazine can easily provide resources for an entire month. As a gifted specialist working with fifth and sixth-grade students, I need to provide my students with challenging and engaging material that is relevant to their world.
