The 30 students in my class are members of our nationally-ranked school news magazine - but we don't have any of our own supplies. Of our 30 students, one student has a camera, and that really puts us in a bind when we have events and designs that need to be photographed. With a class-based camera, we can continue to cultivate the importance of photography, and every student can have an opportunity to take photographs. Our artists are wonderful but without a digital tablet for them to work on, we are very limited in the types of designs that we can put into our magazine. Sometimes, the 'old school' methods of scanning leave us with results that are less than desired. With a tablet, our students can watch as their artwork becomes digital and a part of our news magazine. Technology like this can let students learn more about themselves while they continue to grow our news magazine. The learning curve required is far outweighed by the incredible opportunities that students will now have.
