My students have a deep passion for music and performance. Our school is located in an urban area with the vast majority of students receiving free lunch. It is a small school occupying part of a large school which, before it was closed down, housed one of the most dynamic music programs in the area. With the equipment and music rooms in disrepair, we're trying to reinvigorate the program and give all students a chance to make music a part of their education. This isn't about becoming self-absorbed rock stars--these students love the way music allows them to share a meaningful connection with members of their families and communities.
