We will create a net of solids with these magnetic builders. A net is what we call the solid that has been unfolded and is laying flat. The students in the past have used graph paper to create these nets. The students will use the magnetic builders to create a 3D shape, then slowly break it down until it is now a net. They can find the surface area of the nets they build. They can create great structures with groups and find their surface area or the volume of the structure they created. Social skills will be developed as well as math skills.
