My students love to read and listen to audio books. However, we currently do not have a school library or media center in which they can check out books. We have some books in our class library but in just a few weeks they have become familiar with most and are eager to read more. With the help of a new class library and audio books, my students will have the opportunity to practice their reading skills and acquire new vocabulary. My students will enjoy seeing new and more complex texts and listen to stories they have not yet heard. This will in turn give them an opportunity to gain comprehension at varied levels. Each of the books selected will allow me to teach each group of students at their appropriate skill level. This will engage them and build their confidence in reading while creating life-long readers. Their reading success this year will pave the way for the rest of their educational career.
