Hands-on activities facilitate learning at all ages and academic levels. The cards and dice sets I am requesting will help accelerate the learning through play of basic elementary and middle school mathematical skills my ELL students are lacking. These constructive and fun-filled games will enable my students to continue to practice their number sense rules until mastering operations with decimals and fractions. I am certain that as the students begin to practice the concepts and rules learned to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions, their face will glow when they realize how much faster they can recognize certain patterns and hence complete the game tasks quicker and with more confidence. This will, in turn, help them not only academically with other topics in mathematics such as proportionality, percents, and solving equations and inequalities but, also personally as their self esteem increases as they begin to make academic gains in this subject area.
