Kindergarten students benefit from play-based learning experiences because it provides them with opportunities to socialize with their classmates. As academics become more rigorous at the early childhood level, it is important that students are still given time to learn through play. The materials included in this project will help make a difference in my students' learning because it will allow them to play pretend with their friends. They can do so in different ways with a kitchen set and other items associated with it, such as play house, go grocery shopping, or cook at a restaurant! Young learners can utilize play centers to socialize, develop appropriate communication skills and build positive relationships with others. I have observed firsthand the benefits of incorporating a kitchen area into a play center rotation in kindergarten. Students enjoy playing with their friends. Play centers will be especially important this upcoming school year. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, children have been apart from friends for months. It is important that once we are back in school, their social needs are supported. They deserve to have some fun with their classmates!
