As English Language Learners, the majority of my students rely on visual models during whole group instruction and independent work. My first graders stay very engaged when allowed to help create these models with chart paper and markers during our interactive writing or math blocks. The anchor charts and resources we create together as a class are displayed in the classroom for students to use as a reference when needed. Students are always able to interact with the posters and charts that are displayed on our magnetic whiteboard in order to reinforce key concepts being learned. Our anchor charts can be saved and stored so they serve as resources throughout the school year when we need to review topics or ideas.
