Throughout the year, students will conduct small writing projects where they will be encouraged to think about their lives and describe certain events or memories. They may even need to research some topics, using their family as a resource. They will produce a memory book at the end of the year, filled with descriptions about their family, friends, future goals, the day their were born, favorite quotes, favorite memory, greatest talent, and more! They will also decorate the covers of their memory books, as well as fill the pages with drawings, stickers, washi tape, and other decorations. Lastly, they will dedicate their memory book to a person of their choice. This person will have their own page in the memory book where the student will explain why they chose that person to dedicate their book to. The goal of this memory book is to practice and improve student's writing, while also creating an engaging space to talk about themselves and their lives. It is also a tangible item for them to hold on to for the rest of their lives, and look back on in the future.
