Our students will visit an educational working farm. They will tour the garden as they learn about the importance of plants and find out which parts provide the food we eat. Then, students will visit with the animals living on the farm including cows, chickens, pigs, goats and sheep. They will discover how a farmer cares for animals and what the animals give us, next they will sample freshly grown food from different parts of the plants in the garden. Children living in a large city may not have this kind of opportunity to learn about where and how their food is grown. While visiting with the animals it is exciting to watch as students feed the chickens for the first time or to see their delight as they pet a newborn lamb!
