A sensory classroom is designed to give students with autism a quiet environment that appeals to their needs through visual stimuli, auditory calm and tactile function. In my room, newly designated as such, I want to create an oasis for the students. This oasis will be a place of calm, get-away from the hustle and bustle of a busy high/middle school. A place for my students to decompress and refocus their energies. I would like to add four new bean bag chairs as alternative seating for my students to use when they need that calm. My students, due to their disability, need strong, durable equipment that will last throughout their daily moods.
